There are (or were) boys who write like this in Dilli? And I moved out. Idiot me.

Mid day of a week where the work of Wednesday has bled well into Thursday is obviously a very bad time to want to post. But also the time when inspiration really strikes and head feels like it will burst if something doesn’t get written. Wanting to do exactly what one can’t do. Sigh. Such is life.
This post then, is in the nature of compromise. Its about all the things I want to post. Keep watching the ‘Elegance of a Hedgehog’ … it actually proceeds. The novel is still puerile but I can’t resist posting on a topic that gets me such interesting search strings. E.g. ‘Bad breath in hedgehogs’. It really is a problem. Get to know all about it here.
My own feeble attempts at translation have given me a new respect for the difficulty of it. Now, every-time I read, (a translation) I wonder more than ever, whether the book is really the author’s or the translators. More on this in the review to follow.

Given the regularity with which folks seem to search for it, a return of the hedgehog was in order. Its back folks… a few more paragraphs are up and about at The Elegance of a Hedgehog and on the page next to this one. Enjoy!

Mr. Bukowski is wrong. Yesterday I met a bunch of folks who proved it does not work that way. If you want to be a writer you do have to sit for hours staring at your computer screen – the best thing I heard was what took someone six months to write. The other cool piece was offered up as not quite ready and needing to be read to somebody first.
Having it roar out might be a pleasant sound to oneself, but it is unlikely to please an audience with a more tasteful ear. We did have a couple of people from the Bukowski school of writing letting it roar out – it was a little difficult not to wince and cover one’s ears, but the gynac and the gentleman in construction who write on the side did show me the one other quality writers-to-be need in good measure – courage.
